How To Use: Boss HM-2

The pedal is FET bypassed, and if I recall correctly, it kinda leaks a bit with the gain cranked, but it's been awhile since I last tried one, so I could be wrong on this. I acquired it from a friend and thought it would be helpful to have another color in my set up. Limited technical game has less to play louder than usual, the pedal did not clarity metal muff and I would say the malgres very big sound that it delivers, it is especially interested in the TONE that rather than gain, in fact, the whistle does not last very long with this pedal. I liked how it was all metal and the color. While it is good at what it does, I look for more versatility when I buy guitar pedals. However, I have read many other Boss pedal manuals, and they're always super helpful. You can get some extremely different tones by just moving the knobs a hair. This pedal is no exception. It would help to have tape to fix your settings in one spot as it can take awhile to find them again. Running my fork across the plate sounds about what you get out of this pedal. If you can find one used, you can get one of these really cheap. I put 8 because of the medium n more would not hurt. Saturation typical metal All mediums are left to rot, treble are not very present. I know that Boss is tailoring to the metal market but come on this thing sound like garbage!! So I had number of friends who had metal type pedals to which every single one of them sounded horrible. First of all, these knobs are crazy touchy. No active EMG pickups or Dean guitar will help you at this point. The high and low are basically tone or EQ knobs and are good to use after you have set your level and distortion. I constantly see them beat up without any flaws what-so-ever. So whenever I would palm-mute things the distortion would become very bassy and it would be hard to tell some notes that I was playing. Boss makes good OD boxes but not high gain boxes. I would not recommend this pedal to anyone. I mean what do they expect this to sound like a hyped up Marshall JCM This pedal is so bad that I find myself thinking why did I spend anytime with this pedal knowing full well ahead of time that this pedal is not going to sound good at all. While I found it useful in some situations, it isn't too versatile and you can only really get one good sound from it. For those who know the band Dismember Swedish Death Metal is the pedal they used on the album "Death Metal" and I think they always use. The pedal has knobs for level, contour high, contour low and distortion. It was very easy to switch on and off too. However, the pedal is easy enough to use that I never needed a manual. I didn't like some of the noise I was getting out of it. The parameters you can control are level, distortion, color mix high and color mix low. The bottom line is that this pedal is for more of the crowd that wants quieter distortion over another overdrive. To me, they have the best HM-2 style sound, and that's really what the HM-2 sounds like. Socket for supplying the pedal 9V but it also works with a battery. The pedal is brutal, and it works great at slamming a clean amp into outrageous distortion. It was really small and easy to carry around. They tend to give you example sentences and clearly explain what every knob is. Its Decent if your playing off a AMP without a lot of effects, but seriously if you want really good distortion or nice Overdrive get the Medal Zone and Super Overdrive. This distortion has been widely used by the Sunlight Studio in suede which is quite a standard Swedish Death Metal. Listen to some youtube videos before you decide. For those interested in playing metal, this pedal is worth a look, but probably won't blow anyone away. I liked the metal casing that it had. It is not rackable as it is a stomp box. Can't complain about it. I plug the OD2 channel saturates the amplifier, the same channel with the same settings that I use without pedal. This is an analog distortion pedal. This is a big old pass for me and it should be for you as well. I also did not like the fact that it had to real chunkiness to the overdrive. It's almost too over the top for most people, but if you want that old school melodeath tone, this is what you're going to have to go with. Like all Boss pedals, it is sturdy and is built like a brick. Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal.

Please click for source don't know how these would compare to the modern Boss Metal Zone series pedals, but I can imagine that they have more versatility and a better overall tone quality.

The one I'm reviewing is the Taiwan version, but after trying both of these side-by-side, they really do sound roughly the same. I wanted a heavy tone that would also let me be very versitile. The housing is super tough, and these have taken some extreme abuse throughout their lifetime.

Average Score: 3. It's not your daddy's distortion pedal, and it's not for everybody. My favorite usage of this pedal is to get that Bloodbath style tone.

Since I bought this https://api-shop.ru/2020/wsop-thunder-valley-2020.html used, I don't hm2 boss a manual for it and I don't know how helpful it is or hm2 boss. It's not like the DS-1, SD-1 and others where it kinda matters.

Remain much lower. It doesn't really work the way a tubescreamer does, and the distortion in this is extremely brutal. But it also works well to rock.

It has four control knobs consisting of Level, two Mix knobs, and a Gain control. I don't like to play with a lot of Tone, as a mater of fact I keep my Tone controls off so I get a more muted sound, The pedal has a nice distortion however it sounds better with my tone turned up. If you've ever played a Mesa style amp, you'll know what I'm referring to. Did you find this review helpful? Product presentation. I can't imagine this one being any less helpful. Write a user review. This goes into WTF are they thinking category. The only thing I think it has going for it is that Boss made it and it will last forever. Subscribe to our free newsletter Subscribe. It may even sound better. Classified Ads. Like Tweet Submit. I wouldn't bother too much with the differences between the Taiwan and Japan versions as they're both roughly the same, sound wise. You know what is an option This thing sounds thin and metallic to which sounds nothing like a tube amp at all. It would hum a lot and I would have to turn the volume knob down a bit on it. Hell, it's debatable as to whether it even sounds good. I can still not give, would not it be a nice gift! There was no real mid-tone in it. Since I don't play too much heavy metal, I was hoping this could also sound good as just a general thick distortion. While it works to some degree on this, you can find better options when play other types of music like indie rock. The sound of it breaking against the wall will bring joy to your ears. I can't find one way of getting this pedal to get anything worth listening to no matter how you attempt to dial in the controls. Anybody who has ever listened to old school melodeath has heard this pedal. Back when trying out the guitar for the first time it seems like a lot of beginners try out pedals like this. The best thing you can do I suppose is set the thing to OFF and buy a decent amp. Thankfully, they're also easy to understand just by looking at them, so you can simply figure out what's going on by messing with the knobs. Sort by most recent most useful. It was very easy to use like most Boss pedals. So you'll have garbage tone forever if you so choose to waste your money. Entombed is another good representation as to what this pedal is like.
